A watch for mountaineering enthusiasts. The launch of the Alpinist

The Alpinist was launched in 1995 as a watch for mountaineering enthusiasts. Its predecessor was the Laurel Alpinist introduced in 1959. Carrying on that name, the watch was powered by an automatic movement, had a stainless steel case and was water-resistant to 20 bar. It was designed to be robust enough to withstand hard outdoor use. The design was characterized by a thick, distinctive golden hour hand and an even array of Arabic numerals. Among them, the model with the classic green dial still holds the hearts of fans even after minor changes in 2006 and 2020.
