Starting as a subcontracted factory of Daini Seikosha
and developing a number of men’s watches after the war.Suwa Seikosha (Daiwa Kogyo)

During the war, in 1942, Daiwa Kogyo was established as one of the subcontracted factories in Suwa, Nagano Prefecture, where Daini Seikosha was evacuated to. While the other factories set up in the evacuation area were withdrawn in 1949, this factory continued to manufacture watches, and in 1959, Daiwa Kogyo took over operation of the factory from Daini Seikosha and changed the company name to Suwa Seikosha. With this plant, which had escaped the war undamaged, the development of movements and the production of watches progressed with a succession of products, including the new Type 10 for men in 1946, the Super in 1950, and the higher accuracy Marvel, Lord Marvel, and Gyro Marvel in 1956.
