An establishment that evokes the “tradition of craftsmanship”
through the assembly of luxury watches.Establishment of the Shizukuishi Watch Studio

The Shizukuishi Watch Studio assembled high-end mechanical watches from 2004 to 2021. Now that its role has ended, a new facility, Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, has opened.

Sitting at work desks custom-made in the traditional Iwayado-Tansu style, watchmakers continue to hone their watchmaking skills and carry on the tradition.

Morioka Seiko Instruments’ mechanical watch division, located in Shizukuishi, Iwate Prefecture, started as a “high-end watch workplace” in 2002, and was renovated in 2004 as the Shizukuishi Watch Studio, a space suitable for the manufacture of high-end watches. The workshop was designed not only to function as an excellent factory, but also to be a facility that would give visitors a sense of the “tradition of master watchmakers” who continue to make mechanical watches. The watchmaker’s work desks were custom-made in the classic Iwayado-Tansu style, a traditional craft of Iwate. In 2021, a new facility, Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, opened and continues to serve as a place where visitors can experience Grand Seiko's craftsmanship as well as the workshop's functions.
