The world's first quartz watch
that changed the history of watches worldwide.Quartz Astron

In December 1969, the world's first quartz watch was launched. Its name was the Quartz Astron. The precision of the movement developed at Suwa Seikosha was ±0.2 sec. per day and ±5 sec. per month, which was about 100 times more accurate than that of conventional mechanical watches. The design of the case adopted a rounded shape to express its thinness, and was decorated with a hand-engraved leutor pattern, symbolic of precious metals. The overwhelming quality of the watch made an enormous impact on the watch industry, which subsequently led to the explosive spread of quartz watches, also known as the “quartz revolution.”
