Grand Seiko's design philosophy
that passed down to current models. The Grand Seiko Style

Grand Seiko models that followed the “grammar of design” became the foundation for the establishment of the Grand Seiko Style.

From 1967 to the early 1970s, Seiko designers set to establish a grammar of design to be known as the Grand Seiko Style. The 44GS, launched in 1967, was the first expression of the design language. This basic design was then carried over to the 61GS and 45GS in 1968. Making the most of the manufacturing techniques of the time, a combination of cutting and polishing the plane surfaces was used to form a distortion-free mirror surface. It was a grammar of design that encompassed not only the case but also the dial and hands.

There is a design philosophy that underpins each element whose fusion creates the Grand Seiko Style.
