The first Grand Seiko equipped with a quartz movement was introduced in 1988. However, development of the movement continued. Finally, in 1993, a model equipped with the 9F83 movement, which transcended the conventional concept of a quartz watch, was born. By maximizing the torque to move the hands, the movement was able to accommodate the bold and sharp hands that are typical of Grand Seiko. The evolution of this watch is evident in every detail, including the large, highly legible calendar, the exceptionally satisfying feeling of the crown operation, and the beautiful finish of the five-facet hour and minute hands. The watch is also characterized by the brilliance of its distortion-free, Zaratsu-polished case and the dressy bracelet with rounded center links.
