A fusion of traditional craftsmanship
and mechanical watches.Presage Craftsmanship Series

The creation of this watch was sparked by the Seiko 100th anniversary limited edition model with an enamel dial, which was released in 2013. It was then decided to make a regular-product version of the watch in order to spread the appeal of mechanical watches using enamel. After overcoming various issues such as technical succession and quality, the first product in the Craftsmanship Series was launched in 2014. For the second series, the design using Urushi lacquer for the dial was developed by discussing ideas with traditional craftsmen, and the design was inspired by maki-e (gold-relief lacquering). The series has continued to produce long-loved products, such as watches with dials made of Arita porcelain and Shippo enamel, fusing traditional Japanese crafts with mechanical watchmaking.
