A mechanical watch that expresses
the flow of time and harmony with the earth.Moving Design Collection
The Seiko Moving Design Collection was launched in 2007. These watches are equipped with a clean-energy automatic mechanical movement, and their designs incorporate the theme of harmony with the earth. Both watches are characterized by the “sandwich structure” of the case, which maintains symmetry between the front and back of the case. The Discus model expresses the flow of time with three rotating discs. The time can be read by looking through the clear window portion of the smoked glass covering the dial. The rotating discs move like a planet turning on its axis, evoking a grand image of the earth revolving. Both these models, with their gently curving dish-like dials, are characterized by their soft three-dimensionality. The long hour, minute, and seconds hands of the three-hand model, which are extended like long, slender marking pins, create shadows on the dial, accentuating the shape of the dial.
