A workshop to share the joy of watch design
with junior high school students.Watch design class for students

“Let's produce a watch for Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin!” was the theme of this hands-on workshop.

The project also provided many discoveries for the designers conducting the workshops.

The students learned the joy of expressing themselves by displaying their own sensibilities through watch design.

In 2020, a Watch Design Workshop was held for third-year students of Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin Junior High School by six designers from Seiko Watch, and lasted for about six months. The program was designed to help students learn how to generate ideas and experience the joy of expression through watch design. The theme was "Let's produce a watch for Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin!" A total of 206 students (40 groups) participated in the experience of target research, concept planning, design proposals, and presentations, resulting in 40 innovative ideas. In addition, a public presentation of 12 selected ideas was held, and the winner of the Grand Prize was the "astounding hair tie watch.” This class, which was successfully carried out through resourceful measures even amid the COVID-19 pandemic, was also enlightening and rewarding for the designers.
